I’m hoping to attend this. Sounds like a good event. But in case you haven’t heard, I wanted to alert you about a conflicting event on August 28. A group of local and non-local organizations and public officials are putting on a march and rally to commemorate the 47th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington. Council Member Harry Thomas Jr. (Ward 5) is the senior local official involved. This was organized on pretty short notice (I only heard about it at the beginning of this month), but they are trying to round up large numbers and planning for appearances by national figures such as Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King III and others. A number of local council members and candidates are also planning to be there. I’d recommend talking with Council member Thomas’ office to see if you can get more information.
